Data Collection and Usage
What Data We Collect
The Extension collects and stores minimal data exclusively on your device:
Synced preferences (chrome.storage.sync)
Kept on your device and, if Chrome Sync is enabled, across your signed-in Chrome browsers:
- Custom keyboard shortcuts (PiP and rotation)
- Feature preferences: automatic PiP, in-window controls, remember rotation, rotate-vertical-by-default
- Last rotation state
Local app state (chrome.storage.local)
Kept only on this device, never synced:
- Review-prompt counters (number of successful PiP activations and whether/when you dismissed the review prompt), used solely to decide when to show the optional "leave a review" prompt
What Data We DO NOT Collect
The Extension does NOT collect, transmit, or store:
- ❌ Personal information (name, email, address, etc.)
- ❌ Browsing history or website data
- ❌ Video content or metadata
- ❌ Analytics or usage statistics
- ❌ Cookies or tracking data
- ❌ Any data sent to external servers
How We Use Your Data
The stored data is used solely to:
- Restore your keyboard shortcuts, feature preferences and rotation state between sessions
- Sync your preferences across devices (if Chrome sync is enabled)
- Decide when to show the optional "leave a review" prompt (local counters only)
Important: Your data never leaves your browser and is never transmitted to any external server. There are no analytics, no third-party libraries, and no external services of any kind. The only sync mechanism is Chrome's built-in sync, managed entirely by Google.
Data Storage and Security
- Synced preferences are stored using Chrome's
chrome.storage.sync API; encrypted by Chrome's built-in sync mechanism when sync is enabled
- Local app state (review-prompt counters) is stored using Chrome's
chrome.storage.local API; remains on this device only and is never synced
- No external servers, databases, or third-party services are used
- You can clear all stored data by removing the Extension
